Prof. Mohamad Sawan’s team won multiple scholarships and honors

In the just-concluded academic year of 2023, over 10 members of the CenBRAIN Neurotech received various awards and honorary titles for their outstanding academic achievements and work performance.

The School of Engineering at Westlake University recognized the administrative work of our center, awarding the Excellent Laboratory Safety Evaluation for 2023 to the CenBRAIN Neurotech. Research assistant Yuchen Sang was honored with the title of "Outstanding Safety Officer," while administrative assistants Yitian Zhang and Fangyuan Tian received the title of "Outstanding Team Assistant."

Ph.D. student Di Wu, through in-depth research on on-chip fast transfer learning methods in neuroscience applications, was awarded the "Su Wu Scholarship" for this year. His work has paved new paths in the field of neuroscience, providing more possibilities for future technological innovation and applications.

The "Su Wu Scholarship" at Westlake University has been awarded for five years. This year, only 47 outstanding Ph.D students across the university received this honor, each receiving a reward and support of 20,000 RMB. This award not only acknowledges students' academic research but also provides strong support for their future research, motivating them to continue progressing on the academic path.

In the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, Ph.D. student Ziyang Shen assisted Professor Mohamad Sawan in the digital circuit course. Due to his profound research and excellent performance in the field of neuromorphic digital chip design, he was selected as the Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the School of Engineering for the year 2023.

Additionally, 4 students received awards in 3 categories, including the Most Leadership Award for Ph.D. student Hongyong Zhang, the Arts and Sports Award for Ph.D. student Ziyang Shen, and the Learning Innovation Award for Ph.D. students Chuanqing Wang and Di Wu.

Furthermore, 6 Ph.D. students from the center, namely Yuqiao Zheng, Chaoming Fang, Jinbo Chen, Yuqiao Zheng, Yankun Xu, Di Wu, and Hongyong Zhang, received various honorary titles for their outstanding performances in their respective academic fields.

These series of honors not only recognize the achievements of the Ph.D. students and staff at the CenBRAIN Neurotech but also signify a high recognition from University and School of Engineering for the talent cultivation and research level of the center.

We, CenBRAIN Neurotech, will continue our unremitting efforts in academic research and talent cultivation, striving for excellence.
