Title:Vanishing for Hodge ideals and its applications

Biography:

Bingyi Chen is currently a postdoc at Yau Mathematical Sciences Center. He received his Ph.D from Department of Mathematical Sciences in Tsinghua University in 2021. His main area of interest lies Algebraic Geometry, e.g. invariants of singularities and the relations among them, including birational invariants, such as minimal log discrepancies and multiplier ideals, and invariants arsing from the theory of D-modules, such as Bernstein-Sato polynomials and Hodge ideals.

Abstract:

Hodge ideals, which are developed by Mustata and Popa, are important invariants of hypersurface singularities that arise naturally from Saito's theory of mixed Hodge modules. Hodge ideals can be viewed as generalizations of multiplier ideals. They satisfy a vanishing theorem, extending Nadel vanishing for multiplier ideals and leading to a number of striking applications. In this talk, I will introduce the vanishing theory of Hodge ideals and talk about its applications, for example, on bounds for roots of reduced Bernstein-Sato polynomial and bounds for singular points on hypersurfaces in a projective space.
