Title:The Rankin-Selberg Method of L-Functions, Variants and Applications
Abstract:Integral representations of L-functions have been used over the years to study the analytic behavior of L-functions, such as analytic continuation and functional equation. In this talk, we will give a survey on a specific type of integral representation - the Rankin-Selberg type. We will explain the standard procedure to develop a Rankin-Selberg theory, the technical obstructions that we must overcome in the process. The last part of the talk is devoted to addressing some applications of Rankin-Selberg method. If time permits, we will extend the scope of classical Rankin-Selberg theory and mention its multivariable variant.
