Title:Almgren-Pitts min-max theory and its applications
Abstract:The min-max theory was proposed by Almgren in the 1960s to find minimal hypersurfaces in compact manifolds. Subsequently, Pitts and Schoen-Simon advanced this theory in the 1980s for compact manifolds without boundary. In this talk, Dr Wang will give a brief introduction to the classical Almgren-Pitts min-max theory. Then he will introduce some of its latest developments, such as the multi-parameter min-max theory and equivariant min-max theory.
