主讲人/Speaker:

Akihiro Morita was born in Kamakura, Japan, in 1964. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in science from University of Tokyo, and Ph. D. in chemistry from Kyoto University in 1995. He was an assistant professor at Kyoto University and then an associate professor at the Institute for Molecular Science. He was also a research associate at University of Colorado from 1999 to 2000 with Prof. Casey Hynes. He is currently a professor in chemistry at Tohoku University since 2007. His research interests are centered on electronic structure and molecular dynamics in solutions and their interfaces. He is particularly interested in liquid interfacial phenomena, including the nonlinear spectroscopy, mass transfer and heterogeneous reactions.

摘要/Abstract:

Sum Frequency Generation (SFG) spectroscopy is a powerful means of interface probe due to its excellent selectivity and sensitivity to interfaces. We have proposed and developed computational analysis of SFG spectroscopy with ab initio molecular modeling and molecular dynamics simulation, which helped us with clarifying rich microscopic information on interfaces. This talk summaries our recent efforts toward the two directions in the theory of SFG. Our recent advances are oriented twofold, (i) comprehensive and quantitative understanding of SFG spectroscopy and (ii) application to various interfaces, particularly liquid and soft interfaces, to elucidate microscopic structure and spectra of those interfaces.
