主讲人/Speaker:
Changlin Zheng is a professor in the Department of Physics at Fudan University. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in physics from Nanjing University and his Ph.D. from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany (2009). From 2010 to 2017, he worked as a research fellow at the Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy in Australia. In 2018, he joined Fudan University, taking charge of the aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope platform in the State Key Laboratory of Surface Physics. His research focuses on developing advanced electron microscopy techniques—including diffraction, imaging, and spectroscopy—and applying them to condensed matter physics. In 2018, he was awarded the John Sanders Medal for excellence in developing and applying electron microscope techniques in the physical sciences.
讲座摘要/Abstract:
Nearly a century has passed since Ernst Ruska built the first transmission electron microscope (TEM) in Berlin. Today, TEM has evolved into one of the most vital tools for studying condensed matter at the nano and atomic scale. In this talk, I'll explore recent advances in aberration-corrected electron imaging and spectroscopy, which enable us to examine the atomic and electronic structures of materials with unprecedented spatial and energy resolution. Specifically, I'll introduce progress in these areas: electron beam shaping and phase retrieval; imaging local electric and magnetic fields using coherent electrons; investigating electronic structure changes and optical excitations through inelastic electron scattering; and developing confocal mode for future 3D electron imaging.
