主讲人简介/Biography:

Yefeng Zheng received B.E. and M.E. degrees from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1998 and 2001, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, USA in 2005. From 2006 to 2017, he worked at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, New Jersey, USA on medical image analysis. From 2018 to 2024, he was a Distinguished Scientist and Director of Tencent Jarvis Lab, leading the company's initiative on medical artificial intelligence. He joined Westlake University in July 2024 as a tenured full professor. He has invented 90+ US patents and published 300+ papers, which have been cited more than 24,000 times with an h-index of 77. He is a fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. He was a Program Co-Chair of International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) 2021, served as an area chair for various top conferences in artificial intelligence (e.g., NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, and MICCAI).

讲座摘要/Abstract:

Healthcare is a very important application field of artificial intelligence (AI); however, there are tremendous of challenges in integrating AI into the healthcare system and innovative technologies need to be developed to address these challenges. In this talk, I will present our recent work on AI in healthcare, including medical image analysis and natural language processing (NLP). In medical image analysis, we focus on early screening of diseases, especially for cancers and eye diseases. In NLP, we are developing a system to guide physicians to effectively interact with patients to achieve accurate diagnosis. Last, I will present our work on medical large language model (LLM) and its applications in daily clinical practice.
